So there is no doubt, many of us like catching up on reality TV shows, but don’t we love the dramas?!? I think so. Let’s flip the switch to the outlandish but juicy “Real Housewives of New Jersey” or check out the latest trash talking and crazy antics on “Keeping up with the Kardashians”. Bloop! Here we go.
Regrettably, there is more than one reality TV shows we just have to watch weekly or daily, our views vary constantly. A majority of viewers feel the need to catch up on “Big Brother” or megahit “American Idol”. Secretly, I admire some motives of “American Idol” but personally don’t watch it.
Reality TV shows are difficult to turn away from, they are EVERYWHERE! It seems more and more reality TV shows are produced and aired. “Dancing with the Stars”, “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” and the “Real World” series are just a few that seem to have longevity in the television realm.
The juicier and more drama make the shows even better. Either attempting to flip a table in the middle of a fiery dinner and argument is enough on Bravo or fist pumping with oily, jelled hairstyles and wearing flashy clothes at trendy bars and clubs creates popularity on MTV—it is all about producing entertaining television to attract viewers to form pools of loyal audiences. That is why many of us tune into what we want to watch. Viewers who surf channels to favorite reality TV programs secretly crave the drama because it is either a source of escape or form of entertainment.
All in all, reality TV is here to stay for a long period of time. It is a change many people have adapted to or refuse to admit. Perhaps, reality TV could possible trump many legendary or good cable or nationally broadcast TV programs. Ouch! It is sad but maybe true.
